Scripture Study Sticker Review

Last year for Christmas, Everett and Eleanor each got a Primary Edition of the Book of Mormon and the matching sticker packs from Line Upon Line. I really wanted them to have their own scriptures to mark for Come, Follow Me this year, but I was worried about the pages of a standard quad being too thin. The Primary Editions have been perfect!

Using the stickers for review is a great low-prep activity for scripture study

The sticker packs are so fun for the kids and really help bring some of the stories to life. Line Upon Line has several to choose from, but I love that the Primary Edition pack matches the Primary Edition Book of Mormon perfectly. Occasionally we’ll flip through the stickers, find one that goes with a specific story that we’ve already covered, and use that as our starting point.

Once we have our sticker and story/principle chosen, we talk about what we remember. Then we’ll find it in our scriptures, choose the verse(s) to mark, read them, and place the sticker in the margin.

They love this activity and ask to do it all the time! I always love seeing what details they remember from different stories and which gospel principles resonated with them and stuck in their minds—especially if it’s been a little while since we’ve discussed the story.

Adapting for use without stickers

As much fun as the stickers are (highly recommend them—they’d be a great stocking stuffer this year!) you could easily do a similar review activity without them.

  • Choose a scripture story and discuss it while your kids draw a picture of it in their scripture journal or on a loose piece of paper. Find a coordinating reference to add to the bottom.
  • You could also turn it into a game and have the kids choose a story to draw, and when they’re done you could take turns guessing what story it is or trying to find the scripture reference to add to it.

I’ve seen so many blessings from really having our kids in the scriptures this year, so I hope these ideas help offer some inspiration and motivation for you!
