I can’t even believe it, but Everett turned seven yesterday. He spent the morning making birthday posters for himself and taping them up around the living room and had the rest of the day booked solid with a new lego set.
I made a cake that was supposed to be great version of a doctored-up box mix; it was not, in fact, great. It sank so deep in the middle that you practically could’ve ridden a skateboard down the top of it. But that’s okay, because we all got a really good laugh out of it!
During dinner, we all took turns saying our favorite things about him, sharing our funniest memories of him, and repeating some of his best little quotes and one-liners. So, on the topic of favorites…
My seven favorite things about my favorite seven-year-old:
- He’s the best at leaving the sweetest notes for me to find around the house
- He has the best one-liners that make him sound like a middle-aged man. We repeat them on the daily
- His confidence and sense of self-worth; I wish I possessed even a tenth of it for myself
- His creativity with legos, blocks, and building
- The way he winks
- He is the best at making Henry laugh
- His love of learning and reading
